Research- Narrative theme - Miss B

Narrative Theme
A theme is when a person thinks of a subject, write and speaks and it. Theme is expressed through what the characters say, think and do. The theme also is revealed in how the plot and setting of the narrative are constructed and presented and also the narrative is  revealed to the readers different techniques. The importance of  theme is that it helps to covey a moral  of the story.

Themes and Genre:
A theme is the subject which a person thinks, speak and writes about. This is mainly about idea that makes the story come together, and also it expresses what ideas or issue are raised within the story. the themes can include type of conflicts. Different genre use different themes in order to relate to there audience. I think when there is a theme in a genre you expect it to match to give it a better understanding for example:

Rom-com: break- ups, love, happiness, loyalty, marriage, divorce, commitment.
Action- fighting, killing, street racing, battles, drugs, good vs. bad
crime- killing, violence, psychological,, addiction.
Sci-fi- supernatural, fighting, ghost, science, disaster, earth, adventure
Historical- fighting, battle, land,. ownership, hierarchy

The common themes in a thriller are killing, violence, psychological, drugs, abuse ect..For example the common themes in this picture is a victim, weapon and evil guys.

The common themes in this picture are:
killing, weapons, violence, death, physiological.

The common themes in this picture is:
murder, violence, weapon, addiction.

 The common themes are:
violence, obsession, abuse, psychological,  rape, killing.

The impact of themes on audience is that they watch a trailer and are able to know the genre so they expect a certain themes in the film. The theme must relate to the genre other wise it will leave the audience confused and wont bring good responds toward the film.

  1. Good post here on what themes are and how they are relevant to genre and sub-genre. Examples of thriller included and a few genres explored.

    To improve;
-your first image, some of the things you identify are not themes, they are characters. Remember themes are bigger ideas that run within the narrative.
-what themes do you plan to use in your thriller and why?
    -proof read this post please
